Marriage 1921 to Ellen COX – Christ Church, Hoxton Occupation – Cane Furniture Maker While marriage certificate indicates father was Frank George Blinco , the fact that Francis William was known in 1911 census as Frank and occupation Coachman it seems conclusive this is the right Frank. Frank’s father was dead and I speculate that he remembered his second name to be George but was mistaken. Note George was his grandfathers name.

Notes From Vicky and Paul family@elvins-sanders.co.uk “She married a Mr Harvey he died then she married Eric Joseph Carter in Bedford around 1938. I have received Constance Mary Blinco’s Birth certificate. It says she was born in Leighton Buzzard 29th August 1908 at ‘Bushey’ ? George Street. Her father was Harry Blinco who was a Carpenter, mother Florence Maud Blinco nee Panter. I looked for a marriage registration entry on Ancestry.co.uk and found a Harry Blinco Q3 1903 and Florence Maud Panter Q3 1903 both at Leighton Buzzard. This seems to be the Blincos i’m looking for. However, looking at your information regarding Harry, this seems to conflict. What do you think? Thanks, Vicky and Paul family@elvins-sanders.co.uk from Derek Wheatley Constance Mary Blinko: married Eric J. Carter 1938 Bedford R.D. (December qtr 3b 887) – as Blinko. If in the Hussars then Henry could have been overseas (Boer War?) At census time sister Martha Jane Blinko (Jinnie) age 5yrs was at the home of Uncle Alfred Edwards on West Wycombe Rd, Wycombe, Mother Amelia was pregnant with sister Edith due to be born in the next couple of months. Harry had a close relationship with his sister Jinnie which appears to have been the nickname for Martha Jane Blinko. See scrapbook for postcards drawn and sent to Jinnie while overseas in the army.

1901 Census Age 5 years and away from home. Mother Amelia in late stages of pregnancy and Martha Jane seemingly being looked after by her Aunt Eliza and Uncle Robert Edwards at their West Wycombe Rd. home in High Wycombe. The census records that I believe capture s the above situation is quite difficult to resolve with certainty as the enumerator seems to have not been able to record the name correctly for Martha Jane and has indeed used a ? in the column to show the level of uncertainty. See the Census Image Addresses from letters postcards received from a Maud (Gwendoline Maud Bristow? Cousin ), step brother Wilfred Oxlade and Harry Blinko brother.
1910 age 14 years 10 months. Marriettes House, Alderham School, Elstree, Herts servant at this public boys school
1911 Census Alderham School, Elstree Hertfordshire. Domestic Servant note on the Census is one Maude Shrimpton age 23 (also Domestic Servant) from Long Crendon it appears this is a friend of Martha as a postcard from Maude is sent to her at Aldenham in 1910. see Scrapbook.[Scrapbook]. It could be supposed that Martha aged 14 had been introduced to an opportunity at Aldenham in 1910. This is the year father was ill and dying so work a must to support herself.

Note: Jinnie lived at this time in the 1930-40’s just a short walk down Totteridge Rd. to her mother Amelia.
Notes from Relatives. From George Blinko nephew “Your granddad sister Peggy or Jinnie as some called her was married to an oil sales rep and had no children. They lived at Totteridge and retired to a residential home near Ascot” From Ken Blinko nephew “I’ve just spent an hour or so going through Findmypast.com marriage, births and deaths records looking for her marriage and found an interesting fact. I know she was married to an Arthur Dean, I well remember him as one of the Oil Company’s reps and used to drive a Tanker. The only record I could find of a Dean/Blinko marriage (and I searched from 1920 to 30) shows a Martha J Blinko and Arthur P Dean married in Thame district in 1920. Would she have married at 15?. I know she was married by the time my mother died because she once told me that she wanted to adopt my sister Enid then but Arthur wouldn’t agree. I will continue searching but I am fairly sure she only had the one husband – I last saw her when she was well into her nineties, almost blind and deaf and living in a retirement home near Ascot.” Notes: 1. From 1910 onwards the nickname Jinnie seems to be used for Martha Jane 2. Later the nickname Peg is used and nephew George Blinko refers to her as Auntie Peg.

1925 Letitia living at 196 Cheriton High St Folkestone in 1929 when married to Alec Mark Blinko
Marriage in 1925 in Kent
Alice L. Blinko married Frank W. Cousins in 1947 in Wycombe R.D. (March Qtr volume 6a Page 807).
Divorced From son George Blinko “You asked about anything more that I could tell you about mother. We know so little about her there is not much to tell but here goes, she rarely spoke of her family and as I think I have said before we only met her mother once, one can assume now that it could be to do with having to get married. When father joined up he was only in England for just over the year and was missing for 14 months she being 33 years old when he was confirmed as dead. When he signed up money was very short like most of our era and she did house work taking the two of us boys along with her on a Saturday mornings. Then she got a job with Hoovers who had quite a large factory in town doing coil winding. After the war she married again not a very successful one either strangely enough he came from Folkstone and had been a POW in Germany for 5 years the marriage ended in divorce. A few years later seeing a advert in the Bucks Free Press for someone to look after 3 children whose mother had died aged 3, 5, 8.she had committed suicide. After a couple or so years they married and eventually moved to Folkstone……….. When her husband died we got mother back up to Wycombe as she was all on her own it was the making a of a happy part of her life she joined the over 50’s club one of her friends was our Will Oxlade’s daughter, and learned to swim at the age of 76.She died at a hospital at the Chalfonts.”

1925 Elsie and family living with Mother Angelina and Father Thomas Henry at 33 Clifford Gardens.
Child 1930 Audrey E.
1930’s A sign of middle class income was that Elsie (note not Percy) is listed in the Telephone book this entry for 1937.
1948 On the 14 November Elsie and Daughter travel/emigrate? to the USA on the ship SS Washington. They give the USA as their intended home on the outgoing passenger list. Why just Elsie and Audrey is a puzzle they judging buy incoming US Customs records are bound for Haskell Institute in Lawrence Kansas. Audrey 18 at this time is stated to be a saleslady. The Haskell Institute a Indian Heritage Institution seemingly has no relevant connection to Elsies family past. It seems that Audrey is considered an emigrant was she joining a American she had met in WW2 perhaps this was very common at the time and was then Elsie accompanying her. (This theory is supported by the facts that Elsie returns to Kensal Rise in 1949 and again goes to the USA in 1954).
New York Passenger Lists & Arrivals 22 Novemeber 1948
1949 Elsie has returned from the USA and is on the Electoral List for 33 Clifford Gardens with husband Percy.
1954 Elsie makes a trip to the USA on the ship RMS Queeen Mary at age 62, was this to visit daughter Audrey and see a grandchild perhaps.

WW11917-1919 Reginald attested with the Royal Flying Corps joining in February 1918 and trained as a Cadet. It appears things didn’t worked out and he then served in the Coldstream Guards joining the regiment in France in November for the last week of the war, too late for the combat he still qualified for war medals. see his service record here.
