- 27 May 1859. Benjamin is murdered in Lexington in the presence of his wife. Apparently murdered for a crime he was alleged to have committed of murdering a Black American who Alexander Warren (the murderer) obviously had a strong attachment to. This story of his murder is covered in newspapers. This grisly detailed report in the Brooklyn Daily Eagle June. 1859
